“Windows [n.] - A thirty-two
"Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition."
Obviously, Micro$oft has come a long way since this quote first popped up on Usenet. I mean, XP isn't total shite, right? Pfft! You wanna see something hilarious? Peek in my office now and watch me (a Linux guy) try to talk a friend of mine through using the XP recovery console to repair a damaged file system. I know dick about Window$ XP.

there is actually another part to this post, but alas… blogger is fucking up again…
There is? That’s pretty much the way I’ve always heard it. So true, too. How ironic they created a new OS (with NT) way back when to supposedly free users from the shackles of DOS legacy and they’ve spent a great ammount of energy ever since making it just as poorly designed and weak as the Windows name would imply.
First time posting, millionth time agreeing. I have been using Linux since Redhat would fit on a floppy (ran it on my good ole’ Tandy 1000 TL) and up until lately, it’s been up and down. bought a new WIFI card… the USR5410… good card, bad for linux. it doesn’t like it for some reason. so i went back to windows xp (shame shame i know, but at least it wasn’t exactly a “retail” copy...hehe). it took 2 days worth of putting up with “Windows Explorer has crashed...blah blah blah” and i said fuck it… then i came across something interesting… WIFI drivers for linux?? FOR MY CARD ON TOP OF THAT? too good to be true. One problem- scratched my mandrake 10.1 CD. So, instead of waiting 6 days to download another copy, i drove 90 miles from Montgomery Alabama to Birmingham to the closest Staples store and bought SuSE 9.2 Pro… well worth the $90. Well, i downloaded the drivers (http://www.linuxant.com) installed SuSE and here i am posting my story…
