The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful.
Here Ike comes… I live where I drew the little red circle. This weekend is gonna suck. Initial “impact” of the storm’s center is not supposed to be until midnight, but with hurricane force winds extending over 100 miles in radius, I think things will start to get squirrely around 5 or 6 this afternoon. Say a little prayer for those people in the path of this behemoth.
It looks like LHCb got off to a nifty start. I ran across this concise article that explains better than I did what is up over there in the ring. In related news, FERMI claims they have beat CERN to the punch… which is kinda funny since it takes years to confirm the data anyway.
Anyhoo, I’m off to put the finishing touches on hurricane prep.
Cheers!
Sounds exciting. Good luck and take care!
Make it through the storm in one piece! We’ll see you on the other side!
Did you know Texas had a super collider in the building phase in Waxahachie? I had no idea: http://www.star-telegram.com/804/story/903669.html
Too bad - that would’ve been something to be very proud of!
Pee Ess - almost time to pop a top and start the hurricane party :-D
Yeah Sam… it was called the “Superconducting Super Collider” and was to actually be bigger than CERN’s LHCb. We got about $2 billion into the construction and congress pulled the plug.

My husband is wishing like hell we’d drive to Houston. He’s from L.A… so he’s a little nutty. I’m in Ft. Worth and that’s plenty close to it for me!
Hang in there and hope all goes well for you this weekend!
You riding out the storm or are you getting out for the weekend?
Hunkerin’ down.
Hunker down! Be safe :) Ryan, Tracey, JD, Emily and all our pets say hello :-D We’re all staying at Ryan’s place. It’s just a matter of time before the sarcasm reaches maximum capacity :-D
