Ok. Here is the part

Ok. Here is the part where I say something witty... "something witty". Oh gawd, I kill me. Seriously, I am borderline strung out. I have been working long hours with little food or sleep since EL left for Colorado on Monday. Furthermore, while my burned up little tower system lays forever dead in my home office and I dream of spiffy new Nforce mobos and Radeon 9700 Pros, my sweet EL needs a computer when she arrives, so I spend about too-many-hours configuring a sweet and sexy RH8 install on an old hunk-o-shite I found in the trash yesterday. Of course, in my bleary up-too-lated eyed state last night, I forgot to install the kernel source so I can't compile the VPN client I need to work from that machine at home. In short, it's a reinstall or risk fucking it up by manually installing the kernel source for the new kernel. Oh yeah, I updated from the default kernel after installation to repair some vulnerabilities... which I shouldn't care about anyway because it's not serving anything. I'm just bitchy. I worked until late tonight (see last post) before dining on microwave gourmet mystery food. EL called me. Her beautiful voice made my evening, but my missing her is emotionally tasking. I poured myself a dixie cup of wine (yes, I had clean wine glasses, but since my day was going so shitty already, I figured I'd stick to schedule and drink from plastic) and tried to find a workaround for my ipsec compile issue. No luck... so here I blog. My home 'puter issues aren't the only 'puter issues I have had of recent. My laptop at work is primarily a Linux machine, but I have to keep a Win2k partition available for those few chained in stone requirements I can't escape. I don't think about it much... so I don't maintain the filesystem much... ie. I don't defrag much. My HD went south today from fragmentation because NTFS is oh so good as maintaining itself... not... and so I tried to defrag. Guess what? I didn't have enough HD space to support a defrag. Get some of that. Anyhoo, I started deleting like mad and eventually got it to run. Maybe it will be done by tomorrow morning. Yes, I left it. I have a lava lamp in my office at home that I dig, but I can't turn it on because it generates heat. I don't think my 10 routers, 4 switches, hub, server, firewall, desktop, tower, laptop, 3 terminals, or partridge in a pear tree would appreciate an added heat source. When I have my rack fully powered, I have to keep extra fans running and the A/C in the house super cool to keep my office temperature down. I need a server room in my house. You know, besides a personal datacenter in my house, I need a music studio... an entertainment room... a giant hot tub... ahh... but I digress. My plastic wine cup sounds like a sea shell when held close to my ear. It must be time. I am really tired, but I think I'll stay up a bit so I won't miss the phone should she call me later. I have two days until I leave for the Springs. Two long, long days...
