Of faith and divine intervention…

Where have you been? Good question. I've seen what it is like for myself to come unraveled. My friends will probably tell you that I'm pretty laid back... work well under pressure... don't get angry or overly emotional with crisis. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule. EL was in an automobile accident on Thursday afternoon. I received the call around 3:00 from a complete stranger that was blindly dialing numbers from her cell phone found at the scene. I didn't even see the wreckage or the location as I went straight to the hospital. It took a while to get in to see her. When I did, it was only briefly while she was braced and strapped onto the paramedic board before they carted her away for poking, prodding, CT scans, and x-rays. Waiting. Waiting is synonymous with hospital. I finally was able to see her again after a couple hours and we were able to talk. Although there were more tests to be run, the worst seemed behind us. In those couple hours in the triage waiting area, the officer at the scene presented himself and explained some basic details of the accident. He said that "it was divine intervention that she survived" because by the details of the crash and the wreckage, she should have been killed instantly on impact. This didn't help the waiting. EL and I spent all evening and half the night in the ER. The trauma surgeon on duty wanted to keep her for more testing, but the ER is a busy place, so they found her a room and she was admitted. She stayed in the hospital for a couple days while additional observation, x-ray, and testing was done. I'm the luckiest man alive to still have her. She's home now, but in a lot of pain. After all was said and done, it was her pelvic bone that was broken in the crash that was the worst injury to note. She is everything to me and I am so thankful she is going to be ok.

That’s great news.

Jesus.  Thank God she’s okay.  From the looks of that car, it’s hard to believe anyone would get out alive.  Honda’s are great cars, so I’m sure that helped.  My best wishes to Erin on her recovery.

Good Lord, how terrible those photo’s look.  Thank goodness her injuries were not life threatening.  Best wishes to both of you, hope she feels better soon!

Holy crap.  I cannot even believe those pictures; my heart dropped when I read your entry today until I got to the “She’s okay” part.  I haven’t been around for a while but I always found your devotion to the love you found to be really beautiful.  Even more so when I found love like that too.  = )

Thank god Clayton.  And you thought you and your lady appreciated each other before!

Holy crap!  I wish EL a speedy recovery.  My old Honda Civic saved my life in an accident once, too.

I hope she feels better soon!

Lordy, I need to keep up better.

What is it about blondes and little silver life-saving cars?
