It was worse than I

It was worse than I had feared. I took about 97 photos this morning and less than 10 are even worth keeping. Some of the ones that I really liked in my mind turned out like complete ass on the CCD. Oh well... here are a few that survived the delete key. I'd really appreciate your comments... good or bad. Thanks.

Wow! Absolutely beautiful pics - and that’s coming from an avowed critter-hater. :-)

i hope you don’t mind, but i loved #2 and set it on my desktop!  is that okay with you?

batgrl  on  06/29  at  03:52 AM

Currently I’m in a deeply anti-bug phase, but even acknowledging that I think the compostion and colors in 2 and 3 are lovely. But then I’m always biased in favor of reflective dew drops like that.

Now what make and model of camera, and what lens is this again??? And how much tweaking did this require in graphics program, if any?

Canon S50. No tweeking. You’d be surprised how many got tweeked to the trash can before I posted these those. lol.

ps. since you like #2 for your desktop, I linked the original res so you can scale it to your desktop size. Thanks!!

Two words = water droplet. Two more words = love it! Can I use it in a design layout and give you credit?

clayton  on  06/29  at  10:21 AM

Sure… give me a minute and I’ll link the original res on that one too… you just click the smaller image and wait on my slooooooooow server.

Excellent stuff man, dig em all!

1 through 6 are my favs. Number 2 is particularly gorgeous and may have to be my wallpaper as well! Really proves the “practise makes perfect” rule, C. These get better every time.

VERY cool, i love close-ups! #1 is my favorite, it’s SO real that it almost looks fake… LOL! does that make sense?

statia  on  06/29  at  02:42 PM

seriously, you have to tell me how you do that, because I can’t even come close.

squishybear  on  06/30  at  08:29 AM

Those are great!  I would love to get a macro lens .... but I need to get a real camera first
:-P

Jimnice  on  06/30  at  09:19 AM

All the photos are fantastic!  When are we going to see your stuff in Biology textbooks?

clayton  on  06/30  at  09:21 AM

DOH!  I’m a loooooooooooooooong way from gettin’ paid yo.

 on  06/30  at  12:38 PM

I think you missed your calling.  What do you want with that networking, MIS hoo-hah.  You should be doing macrophotography for nature shows and books!  Of course, the MIS stuff pro’lly pays better right now but...perhaps you should turn some of this into at least a profitable hobby?

I’m pretty shocked those are CCD photos since it’s really difficult to get good depth falloff with CCDs.  I know it’s a pain with video and one of the biggest disappointments we have with doing stuff HD.  The aperture is just too small so it wants to keep more stuff in focus than we’d like for a given focal length.

Anyhow, that stuff looks really, really cool.

i’m very squimish (sp?) when it comes to bugs, but you captured them so beautifully.  great work!  great camera!

i love #2.
