Instant messaging pisses me off.

Instant messaging pisses me off. Don't get me wrong, I dig it. I mean, I like being able to chat with friends that are thousands of miles away without the long distance bill, but I'm a little angsty about all the different "standards". Between contacts for work, vendor and business associates, friends, and family, I run AOL Instant Messenger/GAIM, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and ICQ/LICQ. I've tried using combo programs like Trillian or Everybuddy, but between protocol changes and shiesty tactics used by companies trying to get people to use their client only, it just gets frustrating. Why can't everyone I know use the same freakin' client? LICQ is not as feature rich as many of the others, but at least the IM's are 168-bit triple-DES encrypted. Fuck big brother. I really could care less which client, but I just wish I could get everyone to use one... just one. Ugh! Dammit.

Now see, I’ve never had a problem with Trillian. At least, not in months. :) Most of them finally quit trying to block out the third parties. Waiting to get the upgrade to Pro for my birthday so I can get webcams again.
