If any of you have

If any of you have been reading my shit for a while, you know that I hate Freecell game #617. I don't want any of you to torment like I have in attempting to solve this hand. Here... go save yourself:

Consider the four free cells as a, b, c, and d (left to right), the other top row is h for home. The eight columns are 1, 2, 3,...8, again left to right. So "83" represents moving a card from column 8 to column 3, "c5" represents moving the card from the third free cell to column 5, "bh" represents moving the card in the second free cell to home, and "5c" means move the card in column 5 to the third free cell. The moves are:
83, 53, 6a, 6b, 6c, 56, c5, a5, b6, 2a, 4b, 45, 21, 41, 72, 4c, 4d, 47, ch, 51, 54, 5c, 56, b6, 76, d5, 14, 15, 12, 7b, 7d, 76, 17, 14, d4, 1h, 27, 21, 25, 71, 7d, 27, d7, 2d, d2, c2, bh, 8b, 87, 8c, c8, 78, 58, 37, 35, 3c, a4, 34, b4, c2, 13, 1a, 1b

Yes.

You, my friend, are dorked in spades. You are dorktastic. You are the mighty, might dork.

>:o)

I ran out of creative ways to incorporate ‘dork’ right there.* Anyone else?

*But you ARE the god of freecell. alright then.

You’re kidding!? You did it?? I have been playing Freecell daily for the past few weeks and I think of #617 all the time! YOU rock Clayton!!

actually, I didn’t solve it. I have an aunt that is a certifiable genius… old school mensa… solves puzzles that I can’t imagine being able to solve… etc.

She sent me the answer. Actually, afterwards, she found some blurb that said that 617 is was one of the two hardest seeds in the game… out of how ever many combos there are… anyhoo, she’s a smartypants.

She gave me a subscription to Games magazine when I was a little little boy to get me in the puzzle solving mindset, but I was never close to her… she’s one of my brain-heros.

Dude!  Don’t just go around flashing the solution to everyone!  Hide that shizzle!  I’m still trying to solve this bad boy!

No.617 was driving me INSANE. A friend at work told me about it and I was determined to solve it, but after many attemps I was convinced it was unsolvable!! Thank you so much, what a shocker!! By the way, No.11982 is proven to be unsolvable, so don’t even bother!! ... hmmm it seems that 2 much time on my hands!!!

move 20 =5 to 1 is impossible so 617 IS unsolvable . Sorry .

number 1 is the nine of hearts needing a black 8 which is inaccesible - you agree?

No, this solution works. Just did it. Move 20 ( problem in above post) means move the column at 5, not a single card.
