I went the Arboretum to test my new teleconverter. I got the Canon EF 2x TC over the 1.4x despite the many reviews that state clearly that the 2x is optically softer. I figure that eventually I'll get the 1.4x as well, but for now I wanted the extra reach. I learned a few lessons this afternoon at the 'ole bird feeder using the TC... most importantly, don't shoot wide open on the long end... stop it down. Most of the images are soft, but it is directly due to my technique. I'll get used to it. It was my first time stacking it behind the 70-200. Here are a few samples:
