I think Children of Jack

I think Children of Jack is one of my all time favorite songs that Guy sings. I love this song.

"Children of Jack" - Guy Forsyth
At night when I'm out riding
Along the dark highway
I get a feeling inside me
To throw all that I have away
And I'll leave all this behind me
Like that job I had in the day
All the back dressing soul testing lovers and liars
And the speeding tickets I never pay
Do you believe in love at first sight
As a matter of fact I do
Every time I open my eyes
That saying comes true
Cause I see you in the laundry mat
Black Irish washerwoman in a funeral hat
Italian ballerina on an asphalt stage
Bleach blonde poet of a Victorian age
America where goest thou in thy shiny car at night
Children of Jack we will never turn back as we ride away in the light
And if I were to take you by force
And carry you away
Back to my bedroom
Just for music to play
And I'd play you the songs that I've written
And the ones that I can't seem to write
Maybe you'd know what you're missin'
Maybe you'd stay past the night
My father built me this backpack
Just an inch or two big for real
I'll pack my guitar and the smoke from this bar
My songs and one hot meal
And I'll ride to the west chasing sunsets like gold
At dawn I'll ride to the east
I'll find all the friends that I'd lost on the road
Maybe then I will know me some peace
There's so much more to this wonderful world
Than we are sold on TV
So tell me if you are not already dead
That you'll come and live it with me
Leave your college plans to your one night stands
Your business clothes and the rest
There's pleasure enough in your heart and your hand
Blue jeans suit your best

Hey, I know you’ve probably got loads of these mails saying ‘hey, I know you’ve probably got loads of these mails but where are the pages previously known as 13th stone? Or is this the quest for the 13th stone?’

Nice one

13th Stone was more of a technology site… tech news and information… a long time ago, before the 13th Stone site was converted to a PHP/MySQL driven site, it was manually updated in a more sequential journal format. The info was still there, but it wasn’t categorized or linked together in a matrix. Back when I did that, I would add commentary of my own on what I thought of this or that… mostly on topic, but sometimes I would digress. As time went on and my career became more demanding, I couldn’t maintain it the way I once did… I was faced with it stagnating or just disappearing. I remembered how I liked having the avenue of writing my thoughts and/or opinions and one day I ran across a “blog” site. I thought that was just an extention of what I was doing before… pretty cool. That same week, I had a server side problem that required me to back up my database and reinstall. I decided at that instant that I would place 13 Stone in a little (virtual) box and no longer maintain it. This page intentionally left blank was born and I have been writing crap here ever since. I still have my DB tables from the old site, but I doubt I’ll restore them any time soon. Time is so precious to me that that I couldn’t maintain the old site the way it was designed to be… too much technology, too fast, all the time… this is much easier because it’s just me… no more, no less. Who I am, what I do, what I think… sometimes detailed and sometimes vague, but always honest. I writewhen I want and don’t when I don’t… a new (and much better) fit.

cheers,
clayton
