I love how someone can go to a product show or skim through a trade rag and catch a snippet of the buzz surrounding the SCO lawsuit and have a knee jerk reaction based on lack of understanding and seeped in pure, unbridled ignorance. 98% of everything useful I do at work is done using some flavor of Linux. My manager just brought the tablets down from on high: The CIO wants all Linux immediately removed from the company. Never mind just me... oh no... what about embedded Linux in remote net attached security cameras? IDS systems that protect the network running Linux? the external DNS servers that allow everyone in the entire corporation to surf the Internet running Linux? specialized data analysis clusters that crunch like a supercomputer and were tres tres expensive running Linux? business applications that rely on Linux? syslog servers running Linux? network management software feeding data to network control running Linux? data archival equipment that archives firewall logs onto DVD's for long term storage running Linux? Yes, never mind the 4 Mandrake and 1 RedHat systems that support my work on a daily basis... Fuck ignorance. Fuck this job. Who's hiring?
