Hell yeah! The Burden Brothers
Hell yeah! The Burden Brothers are playing this weekend at The Engine Room in Houston on Saturday and Stubb's in Austin on Friday. I am so fuckin' down! I read about the Saturday show in the Houston Press and called Sean immediately to arrange his coming down on Saturday for the show. We have both been looking forward to Todd Lewis's return (since the Toadies dissolved) and this is like Veruca Salt's golden egg falling in our laps. Apparently Todd has decided to release an EP every 4 to 6 months on an indie label out of Dallas and package the discs with band shit... like paraphernalia. You will only be able to get the BB packs at concerts and from their web site... then, like once a year, they'll take a "best of" cut of the EP tunes and release a full length CD through regular distribution channels. Since Sean is furiously working the post and VFX on Xtracurricular right now and I don't want him to waste time driving, I am going to try to get my ass to Austin mañana. I have to work, so it'll be close. I need to rent a car. I need to try to cut out of work early. I found out yesterday that my company is flying me to Austin on one of the corporate jets on Wednesday. I'm just there for some presentation and am coming back in the afternoon, but too bad I don't have access to those resources all the time. I'd make the show with time to spare. I'm going to get off my yay-ex-toadies-bad-mofo soapbox for a minute and mention my excellent lunch. There is NOTHING open around my house today. It's like 7:00 on Christmas morning. I went over to Rice village and ate at Croissant Brioche. It was excellent. The best espresso I've had in a long time. I had croque madam and broccoli quiche. I sat on the patio and every conversation around me was French. In fact, the only English I heard the entire lunch was from the girl working the register. I used to get my fix at the French Riviera Bakery & Cafe on Chimney Rock. No more. Besides, this place is closer to home. I reloaded my MP3 player with musical goodness this morning. I really, really need to go buy a SmartCard for it. I just can't decide... can't decide! Brain aneurysm!
