No shit. I spent well over an hour deleting comments this afternoon. I usually wouldn’t care but they were ads for underaged girls sites.

yep - nightmare. I spent about 4 hours last night trying to come up with a way to prevent them. So far I’ve got a solution that doesn’t allow the page to be accessed by a link that’s not on my site, but it’s a javascriptthing. Do you think that spam-bots have ways around that? I’ve also still got to get in a bit that re-directs if the referrer is “null”, but am working on it. What do you think? Will it work?
So far, banning ips has helped. My old mt is screwed so I can’t do anything about it. I was spammed on it last night, but not my new mt. Probably won’t last long though.

I just pray some group of hard, pipe-hittin’ uber geeks get together to create a deadly anti-spam vigilante squad. Start taking their servers out at the kneecap.
What IP range were they coming from? A bunch of people were getting hit by 209.210.176.XXX. Fortunately I didn’t get hit with any spam this time around, but it is a pain in the ass when it happens.
That is strange. Perhaps take a look at Jay Allen’s page. He has some information available about getting rid of comment spam. You can find his site here:
See these blacklist things don’t make any sense to me. I sometimes have two of a single URL spam, but normally they’re all different, Porn, Jewelry, dating, all sorts…
i’m not fucking kidding

actually, Mr. Hatley would be way better to ask than me… his web kung fu is much more powerful than mine

I’ve tried IP banning and it plain don’t work. IPs that were clearly banned were showing up in the spam posts. Mine all start with 64…

Maybe it just means that you have a popular weblog… would make sense as to why I rarely get hit with the spam…
