Conundrum
You stop at a corner store on your way to the office. You are standing at a check-out counter with a fountain drink (Diet Coke if it matters) ringing up to be $1.59 on the register. You have zero cash, but a VISA Check Card, in your pocket. The small Asian woman tells you in her best broken Engrish that they do not accept debit payments and the minimum charge for all credit purchases is $3.00.
Do you?
A) Go to the convenience ATM to withdrawl enough cash for a $1.59 purchase (acepting the $0.75 local back fee, $1.75 remote bank fee, and $2.50 ATM fee).
B) Find more things in the store that you don't really need such that yout total exceeds the $3.00 minimum.
C) Attempt to convince the small Asian women to charge you $3.00 for the $1.59 drink so you can just get to work.
It is, apparently, going to be one of those days.
D. Steal the coke.
E. Pan-handle the $1.59.
F. Drink the entire coke in front of her then leave the empty cup on the counter and walk out.
I like option F myself. It does her no good as a merchant to not accept debit payments when credit card companies keep jacking their fees to merchants up. They should encourage, for their own sake, customers to do debit purchases instead of credit purchases so they don’t take it in the ass from the banks.
