Busy Cinco de Mayo… so far, sans tequila.
Henry woke me at seven-ish. EL and I had installed one of those ginormous rainfall shower heads that has, over the last couple of years, been accumulating mineral deposits on the tiny nozzles because of the rich content in the water here in Spring. It has become less like a waterfall or rainstorm and more like laser beams of cutting power to strike ones eye or sensitive naughty bits when the water pressure is just right. I have arm wrestled laziness for some time in taking care of the situation, but this morning, with sleepy eyes, I unplumbed (is that a word?) the pipe connecting the head to the wall and headed for the deep sink in the kitchen. A couple of different OTC acids designed for scale removal were required… along with some soaking, brushing, and needling… but I removed the minerals and it is once again a pleasant downfall. Next on the list was musical cars. I’d been driving the sedan for the efficiency for the Dallas trip and I needed to get my truck out of the garage, but my driveway is not wide enough for both to pass each other the way the garage is set up. As I was moving things around, I noticed the weather clearing, so it was out on the bike. I stopped at Hooks for some info on available Part 141 schools that would honor my veterans benefits. I’m pretty excited about getting back in the air, but I need to schedule a Class II medical with an AME before I can enroll for my commercial license. I went to the gym for a bit. I stopped for some espresso, ran a few errands, and made it back to the house by noon. I feel like I accomplished something today, so I’m headed out to go clothes shopping.
I received my information package from Berkley Eye Center on LASIK, but I’m a little weirded out by the corneal slicing that they have to do before the laser. I think I’m going to wait a while longer. It’s time for me to get my eyes examined, get new glasses, and new contacts. I was thinking about having the surgery done and just avoid having to do that again, but it is clear that I am not ready.
pee ess. Happy anniversary, Mom.
Very busy boy indeed! Today is actually the anniversary of my self-employment so I celebrated with a manicure and pedicure. No tequila here either, sadly, just barbequed trout, red wine and touching up the manicure that messing with the barbeque ruined.
Viva Cinco de Mayo!
Do. Not. Cut. Open. Eyes. I’m pretty certain that is one of the Ten Commandments!
My husband had the procedure done a year ago and said that was the weird part, and not only that - but awake the entire time it was going on. That alone makes me feel mighty fine with being called ‘four eyes’ for life.
