Barry White with a wheeze and a rasp through a paper sack…
Sniffle. Cough. My voice is almost gone this morning. Henry got what may have been is first fanny swatting from me this morning. It's difficult to scold your dog when you can't talk. He wedged his paw into the gap between the lid and base of the cat food container and rocked it over, spilling cat food all over the utility room floor. He then laid in it and started grazing. I don't know how much he ate before I caught him, but his little tummy was taught when I snatched him up. Grrrrrrr. I drove into the office feeling all bleh and discombobulated. I wanted to remain sleeping this morning. I took an OTC sleeping aid to fall asleep early last night. Henry woke me up in a frenzy around midnight-thirty to go outside. Whatever he needed to do, it was urgent. I felt all loopy on the diphenhydramine hydrochloride as I made my way to the french door leading to the patio. I laid on the couch until he beckoned for re-entry. I don't remember getting back in my bed, but must have because that's where he woke me up again around 7:30 and every few minutes until after 8:00. It was useless, so I dragged myself up for work. I have some Christmas packages to send out sometime this week. I need to take Defensive Driving sometime this week for a speeding ticket I received in October. I need to renew the registration on my truck and motorcycle and get the state inspection done. I need to clean my house. I need to groom my yard. I need to start planning on how I'm going to get through the lengthy list of home repairs I must endure soon. I'm generally not happy. It's easier to deal with when I just blame it on being sick at the moment, but I know that's not the truth.
well you could always go shopping again right?
that’s the spirit.
lol
honor her.
hear her cheering you on.
i’m not going to tell you not to hurt.
screw that. hurt all over the place if you need to.
but… DO. NOT. STOP.
i’m serious. whatever you do.
just don’t stop.
you’ll be amazed at what you are still capable of.
even being a wounded person.
and then… you heal… : )
Importantly, don’t do any of those things except for the most urgent. Certainly don’t go to work or groom your yard. Your colleagues will thank you for the work one and the yard simply won’t care one way or another.
Sleep, sleep, sleep. And drink plenty of liquids. :-)
I had to laugh at Henry. Dogs are so funny when it comes to cat food. Sweet Pea (our Boston Terrier) has her food in the kitchen and Holly (our rather large and very furry cat) has her’s in the laundry room. Sweet Pea always sneaks to the laundry room to eat as much as she can and as quickly as she can before getting caught. She KNOWS better because when anyone walks by she will lower her head and leave the laundry room in hopes that nobody saw her. We decided to do an experiment not long ago so we took her food and put it in the laundry room and took Holly’s food and put it in the kitchen. Low and behold, Sweet Pea still went to the laundry room to eat. It’s something about being a rebel I guess. Maybe it’s just because it’s the cats territory, who knows, but we get a good laugh at how silly she is. Speaking of good laughs, over the Thanksgiving holidays my mom was drying dishes and dropped a plate on the ceramic tile floor. It didn’t break but instead bounced around and made a bunch of noise. We both laughed at the same time because we were both having the same thought: Clayton! We then talked about all the things you used to break at her house. The plate that we told you would NOT break if you dropped it...so you dropped it and it broke into a million pieces. Then the shovel that you broke fixing the fence which you’d broken the week before. I think that the best of all was me telling you that the shovel belonged to my great grandfather. How mean was that?!?! haha Those memories are of years long gone, but what good times! We’ll be down in Ingledink from December 23 - January 1. Let me know if you’re going to be at your mom and Bob’s. I’d love to see my dear old friend. You’re always in my thoughts and prayers. Lauren
Oh yeah, not sure if you heard or not but the ‘Stangs almost made it to the state playoffs this year. Last weekend they played what would have been their last game before state. Unfortunately they lost, but we did get to see them play at Kingsville A&M the weekend after Thanksgiving. I think that the whole town of Ingleside was there. I saw people that I had no idea what their names are but did remember having seen them all the time at HEB or Dairy Queen when I was growing up. I never really realized how darned small our town was until I moved to Houston. Country come to town! Ernie and I also saw a lot of people we went to school with. Some we’d not seen since back in the 80’s during high school. Funny thing, they all looked so much older! I laughed and told Ernie that it only meant one thing...we must look that much older too. Nah, you think?
Heather’s words ring true.
Lonliness and heartache and leave you open to all kinds of viruses this time of year and I’m here to tell you first hand that four weeks after the first signs of the flu, I’m just NOW getting past it. 4WEEKS later, so take care of yourself Clayton.
