I’m so sleepy! This moving

I'm so sleepy! This moving the clock stuff is some hoo-ha that we need to drop.
I looked through some of the snapshots from the walk at Washington on the Brazos. Ugg. I love sunny days when the camera is at home, but the direct light is a real killer when it comes to taking photos... harsh shadows and too much contrast. Yuck. It makes me want to live someplace like Seattle where the clouds are always diffusing the light... 24/7. At lunch yesterday, we were talking about that guy that was in an auto accident and left on the side of the road. Amazing. For those that didn't read about it, basically this guy was in a wreck and broke his neck. He got out of his car and tried to walk off the side of the highway to a safe place when something in the newly broken area of his neck induced paralysis and he dropped. The other party in the accident thought the guy was trying to walk away, so they left. The police came, did a report, they removed his car, etc. All the time, this guy was paralyzed on the ground just on the other side of the cement barrier. He laid there for 36 hours before a passing motorist saw him and called for help. Amazing. Anyhoo, I got too much sun and was feeling lazy the rest of the day. EL made some yummies and we relaxed with the monster (Henry)... struggling to get used to the stupid time change. This morning came too soon. Most of the management here is leaving for Colorado today, so the number of meetings should be minimized. This translates to me getting more productive work done and potentially having a non-compressed and low stress day. All that remains to be seen at this point. The lady I buy coffee from every morning is out today. My first obstacle of the morning. Heh. Harsh shadows. Cute kid.

“The Birthplace of Texas” was

"The Birthplace of Texas" was in bloom today:
The sun was contrasty and harsh and it was more of a day to observe and appreciate than to photograph.
It's too bad really.
Because, in the right light, there was a lot to capture.

The wildflowers are out and

The wildflowers are out and I'm off tomorrow to try and capture a few images.
Since it was on my mind, I posted a couple of shots taken last weekend... Bluebonnets and Iris.
Brilliant and firely little plant, no? Not sure, but this little purple flowering tree was very cool looking.
This last one is carnivorous, but I can't remember the name. A variety of pitcher plant, I think...

What a beautiful day! It

What a beautiful day! It was supposed to rain, so I didn't make any plans to get up early. It's a shame since it has turned out so well. I'm a little unmotivated after the long week of work and travel. I find myself sinking into that couch potato mode. EL and I snuck away for a little private breakfast out at this mom and pop style diner near out house. Our first time there, the food wasn't too bad... the company was wonderful. We laughed when the check came because both our breakfast plates (including drinks) came out to less money than an average Starbucks order. Damn them. Anyhoo, I wish I could say that I went to take some photos today. I have done nothing but inspect the walls of my house from a comfortable horizontal position. *sigh* I did take this macro shot of a quite colorful caterpillar inching across the cement porch. Those three eyes are watchin' ya...

Back in the office in

Back in the office in Houston, I am looking forward to the weekend. The trip north was a blur really. I didn't even make it into the city. I spent the entire time working and never took my camera out of the bag until I was on the plane, hurtling down the runway, departing for Houston. I thought I needed to at least take a snapshot... something. I actually like the way those crazy, scratched up double panes on the aircraft kill the light coming in and cause a natural vignetting and color distortion. It's like looking at a vintage color photo that has been sitting in a drawer for 25 years. I have a slew of meetings today, but it's all good. Tomorrow is Saturday.
