Ok beeyotches… the original penguin

Ok beeyotches... the original penguin bashing yeti was taken down, so I replaced the link in the thread last week with another one that was the same game but the batting was all hosed, so none of the original scores were valid. Well, the first link is working again with some improvements, so it's time to set the new record.... Play ball! update (3:36 pee emm):

"Muahahahaha!"

Bob and I snuck away

Bob and I snuck away to Benihana for lunch. It was quiet. No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to disassociate yakisoba with the Navy. At least the rib-sticking factor is significantly lower in the civilian sector. I've been busy all day and it was a nice break to get away. I'm really disappointed in how things are turning at work. I need that phone call that delivers me from this place. Sweet offer letter, where are you?

I had some terrible nightmares

I had some terrible nightmares last night. With each passing moment this morning, my recolection of the details becomes more and more shrouded in foggy uncertainty, but it basically boils down to me having a poor nights sleep. I think I actually walked into the office at 6:30 this morning. It was still dark out. That, my friends, is straight up sick. I didn't want to stay home making noise that might disturb the Mrs., so I just came to work. You need an example of something that is worse than arriving at work so early? Arriving at work that early and having your boss already in his office getting his marching orders of busy-work together for the week. Fuck. Anyhoo, with my morning routine behind me and coffee in my gullet, I'm feeling better and am looking forward to a quickly passing day. *fingers be crossed* EL and I played Ten Point Smear over at Harry and Charla's last night. I always have a lot of fun at Harry's... they are "good people". I am working on a new portfolio on the photography front. I need to get out and take more portraits. I think that's going to be my thing this month. Portraits.

I only processed two more…

I only processed two more... a little artistic chuckle (I dig this one):

and another POV like the quick-n-dirty from earlier (this one without a car parked on the edge of the frame):

Lunch with Bob at Chica’s

Lunch with Bob at Chica's was nice. Homemade flour tortillas stuffed with fajita-style grilled chicken breast and melted jack cheese. Quesadillas kick ass... no doubt about it. I have had some mail problems this afternoon that prevented productivity. Work has been stacking up and though I thought I was going to get out of here early today in light of my having to work tomorrow, it appears I'm in it for the long haul. I had some time while my mailbox was being migrated across the country, so Raymund and I strolled down for a cuppa joe and some snippety snap. His fisheye is growing on me. Uh. That sounded almost pornographic. Anyhoo, I was really feeling lazy and didn't have a lot of time, so all the shots were handheld and with no fill. I spot metered the hot spots, locked the exposure, recomposed, focused, manually added some exposure compensation, and pulled the trigger. The bottom line: I needed fill flash. I would like to come back and reshoot this scene on a weekend where there are no cars and I have time to set up proper fill and compose the shots better from an artistic standpoint. Here is a 5 minute process using my shitty laptop with a miserable out of calibration LCD screen. When I get home and can really take a better look at the RAW files, I may post an improved version... until then:

I'm all zipped up on caffeine now and need to start weeding through these config changes. The weekend is almost here!

Good morning Viet Nam! It’s

Good morning Viet Nam! It's Friday and I have to work tomorrow. I'd like to throw down the big 'ole bullshit flag on this fucking cornholing I'm getting by default. There is a lesson to be learned here boys and girls... DO NOT EVER know how to do something that other people don't know how to do else you will be the person that must do that something at the most inconvenient of times. Funny thing is, it's cheesecake maintenance that a monkey could do. Everyone preaches ownership and using the on call systems in place to ensure that the right people are utilized for after hours work and all that horse shit. Yadda yadda yadda. I am really looking forward to the weekend. I want to roll to Lake Houston and Brazos Bend with my sweet pea. I'd like to do some work around the house... that always makes me feel good if I can motivate myself to do it. I don't mean shit like remodeling or such... fix the bird feeders, weed the flower beds, rake leaves, finish painting the library, etc. I think it's supposed to rain Sunday. EL and I were invited to a SuperBowl party by the lady that sells me coffee in the morning. She's a sweetheart. Her MTV Crib is right across the street from Reliant Park, so I'm guess that would be a little too hectic for me. Speaking of Reliant Park, I am thinking about season tickets to the Texans... not thinking very hard about it, but it has crossed my mind. I can't stand sports on television, but I dig live games. It's totally different. I feel a little grumble in my tummy. It must be time to feed.

Saaahwing battabattabattabatta... 320.5 and I don't have time for this shit anymore. update (10:50 am): 322.9 update (1:05 pm): yeah, since my wife tied my score from this morning *and* she doesn't seem to believe me, I thought I'd get a screen capture this time around... the proof is in the penguin baby!

update (days and days later): The original game site is down. Replaced link. Different bat dynamic. All scores are bogus now.

“let it flow - let

"let it flow - let yourself go - slow and low - that is the tempo" I usually listen to NPR on the way in to work and build this list of shit in my head that I'd like to write about once I'm here (in CorpoHell). What normally happens is: I get to my office, sit down and weed through all the email that's come in since I last checked, do my daily morning report, take care of any brush fires that need putting out, get some coffee, and presto! I forgot what I was going to write about... hence there is no morning post about what is going through my little head. I vaguely remember the drive in this morning. It was early. I was so exhausted yesterday that I went to bed really early. I suppose I woke up early because of that, but regardless, it was earlier than "usual". I took care of some work from home (including aforementioned morning report), went through the drive through at my neighborhood Chez Satan, muddled through traffic wondering why I put myself through this shit, and got here while the crickets were still chirping. There is so much shizzle on the radio and television concerning the upcoming presidential election. I had this gut feeling from the beginning about Kerry, so I'm glad he faired well up north. I really don't know how I'll vote yet. I have no partisan loyalty and have always felt that people that choose to vote straight down party lines are quite closed minded. It's a tough pill to swallow for some folks when they realize there is no messiah in politics. You can't make all the people happy all the time. The sunrise this morning was nifty. It had the look of a clear, crisp winter morning but with the residual clouds the light was scattered in brilliant gradients of blues, purples, and oranges. It was the one pleasant distraction in traffic. The faulty key on my failing laptop is migrating. Two weeks ago, it was the "i" and "o" in indecision, last week it was solidly the "m", and now it is the "v". It's irritating like cactus in the butt crack. Every time I want to type the key representing the spoiled flavor of the week, I must hammer it several times to get it to work. It's one of the many joys working here at yet another company spiraling to the abyss with no money for hardware refresh south of the executive echelon. It's almost nine and I'm four hours into my day. Calgon, take me away.

Other than being about 50

Other than being about 50 times larger than my kitties, this Siberian Tiger is just like my kitties at home.... ...sorta.

Who is that masked woman!?

Who is that masked woman!?

I've been messing with my portrait skills... she's my most readily available subject. I'll still be madly in love with her even after she kicks my ass for posting this... hehe...

So apparently, after a half

So apparently, after a half day wasted at the doc's office, 3 shoulder X-ray's at the hospital, and a prescription filling later, I need some physical therapy. But first, I need lunch.

An elderly Cherokee Native American

An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me...it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too." They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee simply replied... "The one you feed."
