It really sucks when your

It really sucks when your back home and all you want to do is sleep as long as you can in your own bed with your spouse and you just toss and turn and can't. I woke up at 4:00 and there was just no going back. This weekend's shoot is DFW was quite cool. I had a great time and learned a lot. It was an adventure. I have about 2.2GB of photos to sort through and process, but I randomly selected three last night before bed so I had at least something to post. Michael and I spent a lot of time with the bald eagles, so don't be surprised if you see a lot of eagle shots over the coming weeks. They were really magnificent. I need to get ready for work.
oh, and a couple more from this morning... this silverback was awesome! he kept beating his chest and giving us the one-more-flash-and-i'm-sticking-it-up-your-ass look:
this one is a serious crop because I couldn't get close enough with the 180 I was shooting with... hence the softness:

I drove down to Houston

I drove down to Houston Camera Exchange this morning and picked up a tripod bag. I hate giving those guys my business because they've always been assholes, but today my experience was pleasant, so maybe they were in a bit of holiday spirit today? Anyhoo, I shot my first wide L lens as the dude let me check out a 16-35 mm zoom on my body while I was the store. Nice. Really nice. Anyway, no need for that now... I have a lot on my plate before I'm ready for a wide angle. Traffic was light headed back up north, but man oh man... that shit was a parking lot in the southbound lanes. I'm glad I left early. I'm trying to finish up some prep for the trip tomorrow, but feel like I'm forgetting something. It's a nice day and EL and I are off to try and enjoy the sun. My baby Penny has already claimed a spot for the afternoon... basking away...

Holy buhjeezus! Listen to real

Holy buhjeezus! Listen to real time this audio clip... the first run is a Nikon D2h shooting at full speed until buffer fill (40 frames) and the second is the Canon 1D (21 frames)... both 8fps sports shooters. OMG. That is fucking fast.

Ah yes… Friday is almost

Ah yes... Friday is almost in full swing. The work day almost behind us... yeeeeeees. I'm all jazzed up on java and can't wait for the weekend. Saturday is Paella night at Sam's and Sunday morning, Michael and I are leaving for the two day Dallas photo shoot at the ass crack of dawn. It should be fabulous. I see we're going to have to get used to this kind of shit going on now:
I must admit, the lightrail cars are quite quiet as they quasi-zip along Main St. I saw my first one in operation yesterday. I feel bad for this poor bloke... apparently, he saw his first one today a wee bit late. I want to wish all a merry happy weekend filled with much Guinness and laughter. T-Minus 60 minutes to beer!

Check this crazy shizzle out:

Check this crazy shizzle out: I ate McD's for lunch. No shit. My tummy is still pissed about it. I'm an idiot. Actually, I had to walk to the Harris County Tax Assessor's office to renew my automobile registration and on the way back, other than almost getting run over by the newly functional light rail, I discovered long and annoying lines of peops at all the eateries within which I wanted to stop and feed. I thought of skipping lunch for a generous serving of hot, black lovin' from the coffee kiosk in the basement, but in a fit of misguided spontaneity, decided on the two cheeseburger meal instead. Damn you! Clown bastard!! I have a list of items to accomplish before the day ends and I'm at that lotto ball randomness stage of where to start. Obviously, I'd rather no do any of it and go home. A nap sounds wonderful... or perhaps working on stuff around the house... or photographing the little green models in my back yard?

Maria, here is the recipe

Maria, here is the recipe for the lemon currant cookies: Makes about 12 dozen 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature 2 cups sugar 1 large egg 1/2 cup sour cream 3 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup currants 2 tablespoons freshly grated lemon zest 1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line baking sheets with parchment paper; set aside. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, or using a hand mixer, beat the butter and sugar until combined. Add egg and beat to combine. Beat in sour cream. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the currants and lemon zest, and stir to combine. Add to butter mixture, beating to combine. 3. Drop dough by level teaspoons onto cookie sheets. Leave 1 1/2 inches between cookies. Bake until puffed, and golden around edges, about 15 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and remove to rack to cool completely. enjoy! EL

Damn ambitious squirrels. Sam and

Damn ambitious squirrels. Sam and Marianne gave us an awesome bird feeder at the wedding for our new house and it's been quite the hit with all the little birdies around our block, but today a bastardo bandito squirrel mission impossible'd down the rope the feeder was on and chewed it in half just above the entry point at the top of the feed to make it fall so he could pillage and plunder the booty. Bitch! Now I must find suitable repair material and fix our cool little feeder. I'm thinking so Kevlar reinforced rope might due the trick.

Third rule of Fight Club, when someone say "stop" or goes limp, the fight is over. Fourth rule of Fight Club, only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule of Fight Club, one fight at a time. Sixth rule of Fight Club, no shirt, no shoes. Seventh rule of Fight Club, fights go on as long as they have to. Eighth and final rule of Fight Club, if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight."
