What is the byproduct of

What is the byproduct of staying up half the night with minor insomnia? Sleeping late ala minor tardiness. Yeppers. I woke up with the "oh shit" insta-realization that I was late for work... well, sorta. I was late to physically leave for work, but the morning reports and such that I do for the regime are more than do-able from the comfort of my home office. Thus, nothing was late other than my ugly mug hitting the fluorescent prison we like to call corp-o-hell. It was like a Monday on Tuesday. The garage housed one car with a flat tire, so EL drove me to work. When I got out of the car and walked the green mile, I realized that I left my cell phone in the center console. EL turned around and brought that back to me... which she totally didn't have to do. My boss(es) are sneaking around like the cat that ate the canary and all things are quiet here. I'm supposed to present to the CIO today sometime. Joy. I really should just quit this bullshit and open a bar. You could all come drink with me. My mom sent me some photos of her and her boyfriend's camping trip from this weekend. A couple in an RV just down the road from where they were camping had a tree (a very, very large tree) fall across the camper... crushing it and pinning a woman inside. She wasn't hurt... just stuck, but had she been a few feet further back in the trailer, she would have died. Freaky. The coffee sucks here this morning. Well, it always sucks really. I'm just a little too busy to go out for coffee. If EL ran for office, I know one of her campaign promises would be coffee delivery for every man, woman, and child. Now that's a powerful platform!

"Yes, I'm a Mormon. That's why I just smoked a pack of Newports and drank three vodka tonics." Back in mid-May 2002, I posted a link to this nifty Samuel Jackson soundboard that was Shockwave driven... ya click the button and hear Sam say your favorite snippet. It was pimp... without question. Apparently, now this has evolved to the next level. I give you the Extended Samuel L. Jackson soundboard. English muthafukka! Do you speak it!? Link to other nifty soundboards... like Office Space, Jack Black, etc. Hours of mindless fun. Get bent and start clickin'!

Lazy weekend… sorta. After or

Lazy weekend... sorta. After or fab meal at Ruth's Chris on Friday night, we were supposed to go see Harry's gig at Baker Street. The food coma was creepin' up on us, so we just headed to the casa. Saturday was productive in the aye emm with all sorts of errands and running around. Last night we met up with Irfan and Jen for dinner at Birraporetti's downtown before bobbing for wine at the Twelve Spot. All that was pre-party. We were headed to a private birthday party at the pool on the roof of Bayou Lofts overlooking downtown. Everyone had to bring a bottle of wine and since 251 people RSVP'd, there was wine oh wine oh wine to be had... bahjeezus! We arrived with four bottles even after breaking one on the way there... not cool. Irfan had his digicam and snapped a few in candid style. Look! The reclusive couple made it out of the house!
Today was mostly sleep and relaxation... except for prepping a router for Michael, I've done nothing productive at all today. Nothing. :-)

OMG. We just missed it.

OMG. We just missed it. Hawk Ridge (or Hawk's Ridge if your EL) had a record day on the 15th of September... 102,329 raptors! IN ONE DAY!!! "The most common species seen at Hawk Ridge include Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper's Hawk, Northern Goshawk, Broad-winged Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Golden Eagle, American Kestrel, Merlin and Peregrine Falcon. Occasional sightings of Gyrfalcon, Red-shouldered Hawk and Swainson's Hawk also occur." I would have LOVED to have been there to see that migration... unreal.

Interesting BBC science of the

Interesting BBC science of the mind personality questionnaire link via Lisa. Clayton's Results Extraversion Some people like lots of stimulation; they want people around them, activity and excitement, whilst others prefer to be able to focus on things in a calm and quiet environment. Most people prefer a blend of the two extremes and your answers suggest that you are quite comfortable in either situation. You can probably cope with things being a bit hectic or a bit quiet but, like most people, you may find extremes in either direction uncomfortable or annoying. Confidence Some people make decisions very easily and tend not to worry about them before or afterwards while, at the other extreme, some people are so careful and cautious that the decisions never get made! Taking a cautious approach can be a good thing (do you want to fly with a pilot that is so free from worry and concern that she never checks her controls and instruments and doesn't bother to communicate with air-traffic control?) and you seem to have described yourself as someone who does tend to be quite cautious and careful. This can be very important in detailed work or areas were mistakes can have a major cost although you may find yourself avoiding risks and many cautious people wish they were bolder. Openness While some people like experimenting with new things and ideas, others prefer traditional methods and taking a very practical approach to problems. Your answers suggest that you like to balance a willingness to try new things with making sure you don't scrap an existing approach that works just because it has been around for a while. Like most people you may not enjoy constant change and uncertainty or an environment where nothing develops from year to year, but your preparedness to see the merits of new and old alike can be helpful. Agreeableness Most people want to be able to get on with others but to some it is the most important thing in the world, whilst others are quite happy to upset someone else if it means that things get done. Your answers suggest that you can be firm with people when you need to be but that getting on with others is still important to you. Like most people you would rather avoid conflict but are not prepared to put up with being treated badly by others. Conscientiousness Some people like everything to be well planned, tidy and organised, whilst others prefer to deal with things as they come up and appear to work in absolute chaos. Your answers suggest that you don't like having things too structured or being tied down and you can cope quite well without having to have everything organised. This may make it hard to find things at times or for colleagues to know where you are or what you are doing, but you probably find coping with the unexpected (the things your colleagues didn't plan for!) easier than many.

Slowly getting behind on the

Slowly getting behind on the my little list of things to not get behind on... funny how time slips through your fingers. Since EL has been back, I've done nothing outside of work and sleep but try to pamper her. I have a bunch of transplant butterfly iris to place in the backyard and some outstanding yard work to do this evening. Sean is setting the example with the guitar practice. It's all slices of time and my pizza cutter is dull. My mother gave us two huge azalea bulbs that I also planned on giving permanent residence out back, but I think they will be potted for the winter instead. I need to clean the sensor on my 10D and I'm a little nervous about it. Until I get the right equipment and sufficient nerve, it's all clone stamp. I wore a tie today. I think it makes my boss nervous. It's really quiet here this morning... like a ghost town. Maybe, just maybe, it will stay this way allllllll day.

Pink Maggit

I get OCD with new musical discoveries. I pick up on fads and bands late. I don't like change but when it happens I get a little crazy with it. So I'm always like, "wow, have you heard...it's fookin' amazing man!", and everyone's like, "yeah, where have you been?". Like, my favorite rock band of all time now is the Toadies and I didn't really discover them until they were no more. (sniff!) They're firmly rooted as my #1 fav of all time, unseating Led Zep and moving them down to the #2 peg. Figuring out who #3 is is even harder. That one maybe does musical chairs between ELO, Metallica (pre Black) and Tangerine Dream (pre digital). But I'll have a favorite band of the moment that I play the shit out of and right now that band is the Deftones and right now I'm head-over-heels in love with this one creepy little ditty off of "White Pony". Just thought I'd share. I'll stick you a little enough to take your oxygen away then I'll set you on fire cause I'm on fire and I'm with you alone I'm so into this whore be afraid I might lose her so forget about me because I'll stick you pushed back to square now that you've kneed her in the throat well there you go cause back in school we are the leaders of all so transpose or stop you life is what you do all you are to me is meat now pass the flask
