Ah. The irony. This is the first real break I've had all day... and it comes only because my computer is non-functional right now. I really dislike Micro$oft.
Here little penguins.... come to daddy...
Day two of Too-busy-to-eat-lunch-so-i-have-pretzels-and-diet-coke-at-my-desk-while-i-work Fest 2003! WooooHoooo!
I wouldn't even know where to start in catching up the last week or so of my life. EL came back on the Wednesday before Valentine's Day (last Wednesday). I was stuck in a corporate driver safety class all day, so I sent a limo to pick her up at the airport. I felt like an ass by not being there, but this driver thing is a mandatory course that I had already rescheduled three times because of conflicts in schedule. I simply couldn't get out of it. I got home as soon as I could that day and we changed into something a little more formal for our evening. We stopped at Papillion for some food before heading on to the Cullen Theater for the George Winston concert. A few drinks at the Cotton Exchange and a quick stop at The Twelve Spot were all we could managed before a unanimous vote to turn in for the night. Thursday was a quick day at work leading into a wonderful evening with Keith and Sommar starting at The Red Onion Grill and then the Mucky Duck where the four of us enjoyed an all acoustic Guy Forsyth show. Friday completely sucked... well, until I met up with EL later in the evening to spend Valentines together. I worked until almost 7:30. She had to wait for me at home. That sucked. There was no way I could leave earlier. We actually ate fast food for Valentines Day thanks to my working late. We went to see the Burden Brothers at the Engine Room... that show was awesome. They played a new song which was to be named "Conditional" that was amazing... old school Toadies kinda eerie almost, but with the Burden Brothers LAMF touch only VTL and Taz can slap on there... daddy likes. EL and I hit the road early for the coast. We made it to the Corpus Christi area around lunch and spent the entire weekend with my family... my mom, sister, grandmother, etc. It was a great time... and I think the trip was a complete success as EL and my family received each other well. The only time we really went out the entire trip was to have dinner at The Boiling Pot in Rockport... good times. Oh, btw... Sean, City Tortilla Factory is just as good as we remembered. We made it back to Houston yesterday afternoon and did some window shopping in the Galleria before dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. It was a terrible, terrible feeling to take her to the airport, but I know there are only a few days left before that will never be an issue again. I left out a million details from the past week and to be completely honest with you, I have not been blogging for any other reason that I've just been to busy. I think of things all the time that I want to stick on this page, but I simply have not had the time... especially at work. I didn't get a break for lunch until almost 3:00 this afternoon... and even then it was a bag of pretzels and a diet coke that I am trying to inhale as I type this while more work is waiting for me as soon as I finish. I know, I've been flakey with the site. It can't rain all the time.
"1952 VINCENT BLACK LIGHTNING" - Richard Thompson
Oh says Red Molly to James "That's a fine motorbike.
A girl could feel special on any such like"
Says James to Red Molly "My hat's off to you
It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952.
And I've seen you at the corners and cafes it seems
Red hair and black leather, my favourite colour scheme"
And he pulled her on behind and down to Boxhill they did ride
Oh says James to Red Molly "Here's a ring for your right hand
But I'll tell you in earnest I'm a dangerous man.
For I've fought with the law since I was seventeen,
I robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine.
Now I'm 21 years, I might make 22
And I don't mind dying, but for the love of you.
And if fate should break my stride
Then I'll give you my Vincent to ride"
"Come down, come down, Red Molly" called Sergeant McRae
"For they've taken young James Adie for armed robbery.
Shotgun blast hit his chest, left nothing inside.
Oh come down, Red Molly to his dying bedside"
When she came to the hospital, there wasn't much left
He was running out of road, he was running out of breath
But he smiled to see her cry
He said "I'll give you my Vincent to ride"
Says James "In my opinion, there's nothing in this world
Beats a 52 Vincent and a red headed girl.
Now Nortons and Indians and Greeves won't do,
Ah, they don't have a soul like a Vincent 52"
Oh he reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys
Said "I've got no further use for these.
I see angels on Ariels in leather and chrome,
Swooping down from heaven to carry me home"
And he gave her one last kiss and died
And he gave her his Vincent to ride.

...days until Erin Lynn moves to Texas and, consequently, in with me.
I love technology. My brain hurts. How ironic is it that I posted something about Ximian Connector today and a Ximian sales rep calls me today. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K. I had to go to this ridiculous but necessary training this afternoon to explain a new ticketing system they want everyone to start using. More paperwork is exactly what I needed in my life. I have to go to a corporate sponsored driver safety class tomorrow... alllllllllll day. Unfortunately, it is required annually to drive company vehicles and rent cars on the company nickel. EL is flying in tomorrow and I can't go pick her up because of the driving thing lasts all day, so I'm sending a limo to take her from the airport to the house. We are going to the George Winston concert at Cullen Theater tomorrow night. Sweet. Anyhoo, I gotta wrap this day up. Toodles.
"You will win success in whatever you adopt in bed" <-- my fortune from lunch
I had a working, business lunch at probably the worst Chinese restaurant in downtown Houston. I feel ill.
"Say it loud! Say it proud! Cock Diesel in the motherfuckin' house!"
I finally managed to get my mailbox migrated to a native Exchange 2000 box running OWA 2000 at work. You see, Micro$oft decided to drop backward compatibility when they rolled out Exchange 2000 so that the lemming peops out there would have to upgrade. I work for a big company... a BIG company... and there are some people that are on Exchange 5.5 machines. I needed my corporate mailbox to be on an Exchange 2000 server with OWA enabled to utilize
Ximian Connector. That's right baby! I'm up and running Ximian as an Exchange client under Linux. Corporate email and calendar scheduling was the final hurdle in getting rid of the nasty Micro$oft crap in my work environment. My job is done. Sometimes you just have to swim upstream. Solid. I just wish
SecureCRT had a build for Linux. I love that sexy little program.
