Harry and Eric completely rocked

Harry and Eric completely rocked despite the fact that there was some open mic interference. Hey... you can't have everything right? Camron and I went to Buco Italian restaurant for dinner. WTF? Every time I have attempted to go there before, there has been huge line out front. It was crap. Curiosity does in fact kill the cat. After dinner, we had a blast at Harry’s gig and then headed over to Blanco’s for beers. Dirk was (still) there… they should just add a room on for him and call it a day. Nicole was working, which was nice. I ran into a lot of people that I recognized when I first arrived, but the crown was totally abnormal for Blanco’s. Truly an interesting bar… not much on the surface, but when you stay a while, you find out there is more than meets the eye. It wasn’t quite the same without Joe there, but he seemed kinda down for the count after last night. I had a lot to drink (again)… no, I am not drunk. Do I look it?

Jim gave me four tickets

Jim gave me four tickets to tonight's Astros game. I hate watching sports on television... hate. However, live sporting events are usually interesting (I totally dig hockey), so I was down for it except that I promised to spend the evening with Camron since she was in town for me... and she's not really into sports (televised or live). Min's girlfriend was in town, so I gave him two and I gave the other two to Deonna. At least they aren't wasted. I spoke to Harry about last night and to my good fortune, he's hosting an open mic downtown tonight! If Cam wants to go, my plans are back on a day late. I may have to put on my rockstar disguise...

My friend, Sam, drove downtown

My friend, Sam, drove downtown to see me. He provided lunch at Sambuca today. The cuisine was tasty, but the walk there was the best part of lunch. The sky is so clear this afternoon. The sun’s warmth caresses between momentary interruptions of cool, soft summer breeze that, when caught just right, bring a playful chill and goose-bumps to the naked skin. It’s one of those afternoons that tempt you to take the rest of the day off. Hmm…

“Work is the curse of

"Work is the curse of the drinking class." - Oscar Wilde
Surprisingly, this hectic morning is passing slowly. I have been stacked with network issues since cup-o-joe one this morning and am looking forward to escaping at lunch for a breather. My day pacing itself at John Gaeta’s bullet time is probably bad karma for drinking on an empty stomach last night and undoubtedly making an ass of myself in front of Dirk, Joe, Richard, John, and Nicole last night. Oh well, it’s dejeuner.

I’m drunk. I’m sleepy. I

I'm drunk. I'm sleepy. I never made it to Harry's gig. I feel bad because I told myself I was going... funny how that works out in the end. I stopped on the way home for "a beer" with Joe. I should have known better. One turned into two, two turned into four, four turned into eight... next thing you know, I am well on the road to drunkenness with nothing really to show for my original plans. I suppose that it doesn't really matter much in the end. I am sleepy and completely buzzed, so let me leave you this evening with some wonderful lyrics to touch your heart and light your evening...

"Stellar" (Incubus)
Meet me in outerspace
We could spend the night, watch the earth come up
I've grown tired of that place, wont you come with me
We could start again
How do you do it, make me feel like I do
How do you do it, its better than I ever knew
Meet me in outerspace
I will hold you close, If your afraid of heights
I need you to see this place, It might be the only way
That I can show you how, it feels to be inside of you
How do you it, make me feel like I do
How do you do it, its better than I ever knew
How do you do it, make me feel like I do
Do oh oh oh oh oh
You are stellar
You are stellar
How do you it, make me feel like I do
How do you do it, its better than I ever knew
How do you do it, make me feel like I do
How do you do it, make me feel like I do, Yeah.

"Time you enjoy wasting is never wasted." - John Lennon
My friend, Harry, has a gig tonight. I always look forward to seeing him play. It makes me realize how much I need to get off my ass and practice my guitar more. Sometimes thats all it takes... a little reminder to get you back on track.

Unbelievable. My employer supplies unlimited

Unbelievable. My employer supplies unlimited Starbucks coffeebeans for the machines in the floor break rooms. Why do these lazy muthafukkas incessantly sponge every last drop of coffee from the pot and sloth back to their desks without making another pot? I am coffee boy, hear me roar! Grrrrrrrrr!

Lunchtime lull… calm before the

Lunchtime lull… calm before the storm? Actually, after the struggle to wake up this morning, today has been a relatively tame Monday. I just got back from a sushi expedition at Miyako with Micah and Dwayne. Micah is a good friend of mine that used to work with me at our previous company. We always have great conversation. Dwayne is an engineer in my department from India. I always try to think of redneck compliments for him since Houston’s southern diversity is probably the antithesis of the stereotypical sociopsychological Bombay culture. Today I told him he was “cooler than the other side of the pillow”. I think he liked that. Complimenting Micah, on the other hand, requires no skill or clever forethought. I called Micah a “beeyatch”. I think he liked that too.

Beatnik Joe Little, Black, and

Beatnik Joe
Little, Black, and Round
Heaven, Dark Roast, Ground
You kiss my lips and
Touch my Heart in ways most profound

Whether bitter, thick like mud,
With crappy, floaty crud,
Or smooth and regal nectar,
That lingers as my master

Your end becomes my means
To not succumb to
Murderous temptation
Each morning

Do I look frustrated? My service provider seems to love to drop my connection at the most inopportune times. I suppose it wouldn’t be as annoying if I were not a network engineer by trade. My bread and butter is making sure the network works. Is their job any different? I think it’s time for commencement of the obligatory left-over turkey sandwich marathon. Left over turkey kicks ass.

“I did nothing, absolutely nothing,

“I did nothing, absolutely nothing, and it was everything I thought it would be.”
So eloquently stated by Peter (Office Space) and so exactly defining my afternoon. Camron exploded in culinary fury again this afternoon and baked a turkey while simultaneously preparing various “fixin’s” to accompany. I love my sister, but thank god she doesn’t live with me. What is the shortest path to critical mass? A sister whose chef alter-ego would straight up piss Monica Geller off. So, as I sit here sipping my tasty beverage, pondering the tres suck of embarking into corporate hell again tomorrow, Cam is out renting Moulin Rouge. Excellent movie… not necessarily one to watch in a state of emotional instability, but none the less, a great movie. I probably won’t watch it with her in favor of sitting here mindlessly piddling online and listening to gigs of aural artistry. I love mp3’s. I’m such a geek sometimes.

"I say let me never be complete. I say let me never be content. I say deliver me from Swedish furniture. I say deliver me from clever art. I say deliver me from clear skin and perfect teeth. I say you have to give up. I say evolve and let the chips fall where they may." - Fight Club
